The transfer is the first thing to price in

Forty kilometres from Los Cabos International, and the operator’s own guidance is to allow about an hour.

That is the longest published transfer of any Mexican resort we document, and roughly triple the Cancun hotel-zone properties. Across a return trip it is two hours in a vehicle. On a week that is a rounding error; on four nights it is a meaningful share of the holiday.

It is also, to the operator’s credit, published at all — with both the distance and the expected time, which most properties in this chain do not manage.

Four pools, seven bars, suites throughout

The counts here are unusually complete for this brand. Four pools. Seven bars. Every published room category is a junior suite or above, running up to two Elite Club ocean-front grades.

Elite Club by RIU is the named premium tier. As at the Aruba property, it is the main published distinction inside the hotel.

What we will not print

A number appears on this page in the position a room count would occupy. It is not a credible room total for a property of this description, and we have recorded no room count at all rather than repeat it.

We mention this because it is the kind of figure that gets scraped and republished across a dozen travel sites within a week, and because an obviously wrong number is more damaging than a missing one.

Adults-only, age unstated

As with every adults-only property in this chain: the label is published, the minimum age is not.

Also unpublished

The restaurant count. Named venues appear in the page furniture but the operator does not commit to how many there are.

What the rate includes

Not published by the operator.

What it does not include

Mandatory costs

The operator does not publish a mandatory fee schedule on its official pages. That is not the same as there being no fee. It means we read the official source and found no figure, so we are not going to state one. Confirm any property charges at the point of booking.

Costs that apply wherever you stay in Quintana Roo

Strengths, and what supports them

  • Publishes both the airport distance and the expected drive time, which most of this chain does not
    Because: location.airport_distance, location.airport_transfer_minutes
  • Counts its pools and its bars
    Because: pools.pool_count, dining.bar_count
  • Every published room category is a junior suite or suite
    Because: rooms.categories

Limitations, and what supports them

  • The longest published transfer of any resort in our Mexico coverage
    Because: location.airport_distance
  • Does not count its restaurants
    Because: unknowns.dining.restaurant_count
  • No room count. A figure appears on the page in that position but is not a credible room total, so we have recorded none
    Because: unknowns.rooms.room_count

Who it suits

  • couples
  • honeymoon
  • lively
  • luxury

Who it is not for

  • Travellers on a short stay
Because: location.airport_transfer_minutes – an hour each way is most of an afternoon across the trip
  • Families
    Because: identity.audience_class = adults_only
  • Anyone who needs the minimum age in writing
    Because: unknowns.identity.minimum_age
  • Anyone who wants a firm mandatory-fee total in advance
    Because: fee_position=not_published_by_operator

What the operator does not publish

We checked the official source for each of these and it was not stated. We have not filled them in from anywhere else:

  • minimum age
  • room count
  • restaurant count
  • mandatory fees
  • exclusions notable
  • beach type
  • step free access notes

Prices

We do not publish prices for this resort yet. We only publish a price when we can state the amount, what it covers, the basis it is quoted on, and when we observed it.

We have no affiliate relationship for Hotel Riu Palace Baja California yet, so this is not a tracked link and we earn nothing from it. When that changes, this page will say so and the disclosure will appear above it.

New resort profiles, when they are actually verified

We publish a resort profile when we can source it, not on a schedule. Six are currently on hold because the operator will not let us read its own website.

This form is deliberately inactive. No email provider is connected, so nothing would be stored or sent, and we will not collect an address we cannot yet honour.
