How we make money
At the time of writing, this site earns nothing. No affiliate links, no sponsorship, no commercial relationships of any kind.
Where things stand today
There are no affiliate links on this site. We have not applied to any affiliate program, we hold no tracking credentials, and no resort, hotel group, or booking platform has paid us anything or has any arrangement with us.
We are telling you this now, while it is true and uninteresting, so that you can hold us to the same clarity later, when it is neither.
What the model will be
When we do start earning, it will work like this. Some links to booking partners will earn us a commission if you book through them. You pay the same either way; the partner shares part of what it already earns.
The partners we expect to work with are the ones that cover the resorts in this region: the large booking platforms, and in time the resort brands themselves. When any of them goes live, three things will happen on the same day:
- This page will name the partner and describe the arrangement.
- Every page carrying one of those links will disclose it, clearly, before the link rather than in a footer.
- Nothing about the order or content of our recommendations will change.
The rules that protect what you read
These are the rules, not aspirations:
- Commission never affects ranking. Our “best of” pages state their selection criterion before the list, and the criterion is something you can check against the facts on each profile. If we ever rank by what pays us, the criterion would stop matching the list, and you would be able to see it.
- Where a partner is not the right answer, we say so. If a resort we cannot earn from is the better fit, the page says that and links to it anyway.
- A resort’s commercial value never affects whether we cover it. Several profiles on this site are for resorts we currently have no commercial route to at all.
- We do not accept payment for coverage, placement, or a particular verdict. If we ever accept sponsorship of any kind, it will be labeled as sponsorship, and it will not appear inside editorial content.
Why we are telling you the awkward part
Affiliate commissions in this market are paid by the booking partner, usually after your stay is completed rather than when you book. That means we have a commercial interest in you booking a resort and actually going. What we do not have is any interest in you booking a resort that turns out to be wrong for you, since that path ends in a cancellation, a refund, and a person who never comes back.
This is not a claim to virtue. It is just the actual shape of the incentive, and it happens to point the same way as being accurate. Where it stops doing so, the rules above are what we fall back on.
What we will not do
- Publish a price or a saving we cannot support, in order to make a link more attractive.
- Use urgency, scarcity, or countdowns to push a booking.
- Reproduce a booking site’s review score as though it were our own assessment.
- Let a commercial partner review, approve, or influence a profile before it publishes.
- Hide a disclosure at the bottom of the page and call it disclosed.
