Resorts with the shortest airport transfers
The criterion, stated first
Ordered strictly by the transfer distance each operator publishes for its own property – not by our estimate, not by a mapping tool, and not by anything else about the resort. A property qualifies only if it publishes a distance or a drive time from its arrival airport. This is the one list on the site with a genuine ranking, because it ranks on a single published number rather than on a judgement.

Hotel Riu Palace Jamaica
The shortest published airport transfer of any resort we cover: 2.7 km from Sangster International, about ten to fifteen minutes. An adults-only property at Rose Hall with three infinity pools, on a 24-hour all-inclusive model.
The catch: No published minimum age despite the adults-only positioning

Hotel Riu Montego Bay
An adults-only resort on the same short airport corridor as its Palace stablemate, 2.7 km from Sangster International, with five pools and a published Jamaican barbecue on the beach among the themed dining.

Barcelo Aruba
A 373-room family resort on Palm Beach with the most precisely published children’s provision in this set: a kids club with both an age band and opening hours. Its pool provision is the opposite of the Punta Cana giants – a single large lake-shaped pool rather than a dozen.
The catch: The operator’s own page states two different restaurant counts
Skip it if: Families who want multiple pools and a water park
Barcelo Bavaro Palace
A large family resort on Playa Bavaro whose distinguishing published fact is scale of provision for children: two themed water parks and more than two hundred family rooms, alongside eleven restaurants and a four-pool setup that includes both a children’s pool and an adults-only one.
The catch: Total room count is not published, so density cannot be judged from official data
Skip it if: Adults wanting a child-free resort
Occidental Punta Cana
A family all-inclusive on El Cortecito Beach with an unusually specific published dining breakdown: eleven restaurants of which seven are a la carte, two buffets, two snack venues and ten bars, on a 24/7 food and drink model.
The catch: Pool count and room count are both unpublished

Why transfer time deserves a list of its own
It is the most under-weighted number in resort booking. People compare pool counts endlessly and treat the drive as an afterthought, when the drive is often the larger variable.
Transfer time is spent on arrival day and departure day — the two days already shortened by flight times, a 3pm check-in and a noon checkout. A ninety-minute transfer on a four-night trip removes roughly a quarter of your usable daylight from the days you can least afford to lose. A fifteen-minute one barely registers.
The order, on published figures
1. Riu Palace Jamaica — 2.7 km, about 10 to 15 minutes. The shortest we have recorded anywhere. The catch: a resort three kilometres from an international runway is convenient, not secluded. It also does not publish a minimum age despite being adults-only.
2. Riu Montego Bay — 2.7 km, about 10 to 15 minutes. Identical corridor, generally a tier below. The catch: same unpublished minimum age, and five pools none of which are described as infinity pools.
3. Barcelo Aruba — 7.2 miles from Queen Beatrix International. The catch: a 4pm check-in, an hour later than every other resort in this set, which partly gives back what the short transfer saved on arrival day.
4. Barcelo Bavaro Palace — 11 miles from Punta Cana International. The catch: the closest of the Punta Cana resorts we document, but it publishes no kids club age band, which matters for the family audience it is built for.
5. Occidental Punta Cana — 15 miles from Punta Cana International. The catch: the airport shuttle carries an additional charge, published by the operator. Nearer is not automatically cheaper.
The one to avoid if your trip is short
Riu Ocho Rios publishes 90 km and about ninety minutes from Montego Bay. It is a good family resort and it does not belong on this list — three hours of round-trip driving on a long weekend is a poor trade, however nice the north coast is.
We have not excluded it as a criticism. It is simply what the criterion says.
How to use the number
Double it. Subtract it from your trip. Then decide whether the resort is worth that much of your holiday. It is the single fastest way to narrow a shortlist, and almost nobody does it first.
Who should ignore this list
Anyone on a long stay. Over ten nights or more, an extra hour each way disappears into the trip and you should choose on the resort instead. This list is for short trips, late arrivals, early departures, and travellers with small children for whom the bus is the worst part of the day.
