What it is

The beach immediately north of Bavaro, and where the largest recent builds on this coast sit. Both resorts we document here publish twenty-five to twenty-eight kilometres from Punta Cana International, around thirty to forty minutes.

The two properties are run by the same brand on the same sand, and they split the market cleanly: one is adults-only, one takes families. That makes Arena Gorda unusually easy to reason about — the location variable is held constant, and the only question left is who you are travelling with.

Why you would choose it

Pool provision is the headline here, and it is published in detail. Eleven pools at the family resort, two of them reserved for adults. Five at the adults-only property, three with swim-up bars. Those are stated layouts rather than marketing counts.

A water park included, not added on. The family resort publishes Splash Water World on site as part of the stay.

A published kids club age band. Four to twelve at the family property — one of the few in the whole Dominican market to state it, which means you can rule the resort in or out in seconds.

24-hour all-inclusive at both. Food and drink around the clock rather than in service windows, which matters after a long flight and a forty-minute drive.

Why you would not

The transfer. Roughly twice Bavaro’s. Forty extra minutes each way is trivial on a fortnight and material on a long weekend.

Scale. These are large resorts. Eleven pools implies a property with the guest numbers to fill them.

Neither publishes an exclusions list. Both describe what the rate includes and stop. For two resorts this specific about pools, the silence about what costs extra is conspicuous, and it is the thing to ask about.

The adults-only caveat that applies here

The adults-only property publishes no minimum age. That is the single most important unstated fact on this beach, and it is the question to settle in writing before paying if a strictly adult environment is your reason for choosing it.

How to choose between the two

If you are travelling with children, the family resort’s eleven pools and stated kids club ages make it the more completely documented option in the whole region.
