Riu Palace Jamaica vs Riu Montego Bay

Same operator. Same stretch of Mahoe Bay. Both publish 2.7 km from Sangster International and a ten to fifteen minute drive. Both adults-only. Both 24-hour all-inclusive. Both with the same check-in and check-out times.

Practically every variable is identical, which means this page answers a question most resort comparisons cannot: what does the higher tier actually buy?

What the Palace tier adds, on the published evidence

Pools. Riu Palace Jamaica publishes three infinity pools with swim-up loungers plus one outdoor pool with a swim-up bar. Riu Montego Bay publishes five swimming pools, one with a swim-up bar.

Read that carefully, because the raw count runs the other way. Montego Bay has more pools; the Palace property has better-specified ones. Three infinity pools with swim-up loungers is a description of a fit-out; five pools is a number.

Published extras. The Palace property states Splash Water World access and the Renova Spa as part of what the stay reaches. Riu Montego Bay publishes neither.

What the lower tier keeps

The location, entirely. The 2.7 km transfer — the shortest we have recorded anywhere — is identical. If proximity to the airport is the reason you are looking at this corridor, you do not have to pay the Palace premium to get it.

It also publishes something the Palace property does not: an authentic Jamaican barbecue on the beach, named specifically among the themed restaurants. In a market where resort dining lists are almost uniformly Italian, Asian and steakhouse, an operator naming local cooking is a genuine point of difference.

The problem both share

Neither publishes a minimum age. Both are labelled adults-only, repeatedly, and neither states a number anywhere.

On a corridor that is entirely adults-only in our coverage, that gap is doubled rather than diluted. Whichever you choose, ask.

Choose Riu Palace Jamaica if

You want the infinity pools and the published spa and water park access, and the higher fit-out is worth the tier difference to you.

Choose Riu Montego Bay if

You are buying the location. Same transfer, more pools by count, and a local dining feature the Palace does not publish. If the ten-to-fifteen-minute drive is the reason Jamaica appealed, this gets you it without the premium.

Where the evidence genuinely cannot separate them

Neither publishes a room count, a restaurant count, an exclusions list or a mandatory fee schedule. On scale, dinner variety and true total cost, the published record is silent for both, and we are not going to invent a distinction where none is documented.
