Hyatt announced in September 2025 that it would add a new adults-only Secrets resort in Punta Cana’s Macao Beach area, with an opening expected in 2026. At the time of writing, we could not find a published opening date or a confirmed start to bookings in the sources we checked. This article sets out what the operator and trade press have actually said, so you can separate the plan from the promise.
What was announced
According to trade coverage of Hyatt’s announcement, including Caribbean Journal and a Hospitality Net release, the resort is a new build with 406 rooms. Of those, 111 are swim-out suites and 13 are panoramic, high-level swim-out suites. It sits within Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, the group that includes the Secrets brand for adults-only all-inclusive stays.
A Hyatt affiliate will manage the property under an agreement with GSM Investissements Dominicana, which owns the neighbouring Dreams Macao Beach Punta Cana. That ownership link explains the most distinctive feature of the plan: guests staying at the new Secrets resort are described as having full access to the family-friendly Dreams Macao Beach next door, with use of restaurants and facilities at both properties.
Dining and facilities
The announcement describes nine restaurants and nine bars. One of the restaurants is a farm-to-table concept tied to an on-site organic garden. Swim-out suites, a rooftop pool and farm-to-table dining were the headline features in the Caribbean Journal summary. Beyond those items, the sources we reviewed do not list a spa size, a kids’ policy detail or a full amenity schedule, so we have left them out rather than infer them from other Secrets resorts.
What an adults-only resort next to a family resort means
Shared access is a selling point for some couples and a concern for others. The practical question is which spaces are shared and which are separate. In most paired arrangements, the adults-only side keeps its own pools, beach area and some restaurants, while guests can cross over for extra dining choice. How well that works depends on the layout, the check-in system and how crowded the shared areas become in school holiday weeks. We cover the general pattern in our guides to what adults-only means inside a family complex and dine-around and shared complex facilities, and you can browse examples on our page for adults-only resorts inside family complexes.
For this particular resort, no published source we found details which facilities will be shared, whether there is a charge for crossing over, or how adults-only rules will be enforced in the shared areas. Ask these questions before you commit.
Where it fits in Punta Cana
Macao Beach lies on the northern part of the Punta Cana coast, past the main Bavaro strip. Transfers from the airport are typically longer than for resorts nearer to it, and the beach has a different character from the calmer, more developed stretches. Our destination pages on Bavaro and Arena Gorda explain how the main areas compare, and our guide on how far from the airport your resort should be will help you weigh the transfer.
What is confirmed and what is not
Confirmed in the announcement: the 406-room count, the 111 swim-out suites, the 13 panoramic swim-out suites, the nine restaurants and nine bars, the management arrangement, and the access to the neighbouring Dreams resort. Not confirmed in the sources we found: an opening date, opening-offer pricing, whether reservations are open, and any day-to-day operating detail.
- Opening date: described only as 2026.
- Booking status: not stated.
- Rates and inclusions by room type: not published in the sources we reviewed.
- Shared-facility rules: not published.
How to approach a booking
New resorts often open in phases, with some restaurants, bars or pool areas arriving after the first guests. A planned opening month can also slip. If you are tempted by an early-booking offer, read the cancellation terms first and ask what happens if the opening is delayed. Does the resort move you to a neighbouring property, refund the deposit in full, or offer a credit? Get the answer in writing.
It is also reasonable to wait for early guest reviews. A resort in its first weeks is still finding its rhythm, and recent reviews tend to reveal what the brochure leaves out, from service pace to construction noise nearby. Our piece on what a resort fact sheet tells you lists the details worth asking for once the operator publishes them.
This article summarises public reporting, not a hands-on visit. We have not seen the resort, and we will update it when Hyatt confirms an opening date.
