The Bahamas

What we can and cannot tell you about the Bahamas

One resort. That is our entire documented coverage of this destination, and it would be dishonest to dress it up as more.

The all-inclusive model is less dominant in the Bahamas than in the Dominican Republic or Jamaica, and several of the large operators here — the ones whose names you would expect on this page — do not permit automated retrieval of their own published information. We do not write resort profiles from secondary sources, so they are not here.

The one property, and its unusual silence

Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island is adults-only, runs a 24-hour all-inclusive, and sits on Cabbage Beach with a Casino Drive address.

It publishes no room count, no pool count, no minimum age, and — alone among every resort we have documented in four countries — no distance or drive time from the airport.

Lynden Pindling International is on New Providence, connected to Paradise Island by bridge. The drive is short by Caribbean standards. But we are not going to state a figure the operator does not publish, and you should notice that it does not.

How the Bahamas differs from our other destinations

In Punta Cana, Jamaica and Los Cabos the decisive variable is transfer time, and operators publish it. Here the resort strip is compact and the airport is close, so the question shifts: it is less about how far you drive and more about whether an all-inclusive is the right product in a destination where much of the appeal is outside the resort fence.

Before you book

Confirm the minimum age in writing if the adults-only environment is your reason for going, and ask what the mandatory charges are. Neither is published.
