A strip that did not exist ten years ago

Costa Mujeres runs north from the Cancun hotel zone along the road towards Isla Blanca. Both properties we document here were built in 2018, which makes them the newest resorts anywhere in our coverage.

That matters more than it sounds. Most of the Mexican Caribbean’s all-inclusive stock was built in the 1990s and refurbished since; a 2018 build is a different generation of room, pool and layout.

The published geography

Both publish 29 km from Cancun International, about 35 minutes by taxi.

That is further than the hotel zone at 17 miles and much closer than the Riviera Maya corridor at 48. It sits in a useful middle: a short enough transfer for a week, far enough to be quiet.

Both also publish white sand and a lifeguard on the beach, which is unusual candour — beach type is one of the fields we most often record as unknown.

One village, two audiences

TRS Coral Hotel is adults-only, 473 rooms, and 94 of them are swim-out categories.

Grand Palladium Select Costa Mujeres is the family hotel, 493 rooms, and 265 of them are poolside or pool-access categories.

They share a site and a dine-around arrangement, so the adults-only hotel’s restaurant offer runs partly through the family village. If a wholly child-free environment is what you are buying, read the comparison before booking.

What neither publishes

Neither states a minimum age. The family hotel names three children’s clubs without an age band for any of them, and publishes the village’s 21-bar total rather than its own count.
