Marriott International has published a round of updates for its resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, covering renovations, new restaurants and a planned beach club. The summary appeared in trade coverage on October 7, 2026. Several of the changes have no stated dates, so this post separates what has been completed from what is still underway or planned. We have not stayed at these properties, and this is a news summary, not a review.
Puerto Vallarta: a multi-phase transformation
The Marriott Puerto Vallarta Resort and Spa is in the middle of a multi-phase transformation. The reported work includes renovated rooms and suites, new swim-up accommodations, an adults-only pool, upgraded meeting space and expanded dining. No completion timeline was given. If you are booking, ask which phases are finished for your dates, and whether work is likely to affect the pool or beach areas. Our post on how to check for construction or renovation noise before booking a resort explains how to do that.
Aruba: an adults-only premium category
The Aruba Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino is preparing to launch an adults-only premium category. It is described as having private plunge pools, landscaped outdoor areas, retractable shade canopies, gated privacy, direct beach and pool access, and access to the Tradewinds Club. No launch date was published, and rates were not given. For travellers weighing Aruba against other islands, our comparison of Aruba and the Bahamas for an all-inclusive outlines the differences.
Curacao: new dining and a Friday ritual
The Curacao Marriott Beach Resort has introduced an upgraded dining and wine experience at JFK Steakhouse, beachfront dinners at Salty at the Beach and a Friday Fire Pit Ritual with Tambu music. These are listed as currently available. Tambu is a traditional Curacao music and dance form, which makes the Friday event a local touch. Our guide to things to do in Curacao beyond the resort covers the island more broadly.
Puerto Rico: a beach club and a completed overhaul
At La Concha Resort, an Autograph Collection property in San Juan, Marriott is building the LUXE Azul Beach Club, a beachfront entertainment, dining and luxury concept. It is expected to open by the end of 2026. The resort has also launched an Art in Residence programme featuring Puerto Rican contemporary artists in select recently renovated suites. Separately, the Marriott Isla Verde Beach Resort has completed a property-wide transformation, with modernised rooms, refreshed public areas, upgraded dining and enhanced amenities. No figures were given for the cost or number of rooms.
Cayman Islands: beachfront restoration
The Grand Cayman Marriott Beach Resort on Seven Mile Beach is undergoing a beachfront restoration and property refresh aimed at improving shoreline access and environmental resilience. It adds private beach gatherings, curated culinary experiences, Chef’s Table dinners, waterside mixology sessions and custom events. There is no published timeline.
Dominican Republic: a large modernisation
The Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel and Casino is in a modernisation programme valued at more than 11 million US dollars. The work includes restoring the Teatro La Fiesta, upgrading sports and wellness facilities, adding padel courts, redesigning poolside dining with a wood-fired pizzeria, upgrading the ZUI Spa and fitness centre, and opening La Galeria, a retail, wellness and events space. No timeline was given.
Mexico City and San Miguel de Allende
Several Mexican city properties were also mentioned. CleviĆ” in San Miguel de Allende now offers ZUKKAH Eastern Mediterranean Kitchen. The Courtyard by Marriott Mexico City Airport has completed a renovation of guestrooms, public spaces and services, and Le Meridien Mexico City has renovated suites across the hotel. These are city hotels, not beach resorts, but they may matter to travellers who stop overnight before a resort trip.
What this means for travellers
- Check the status of renovation work for your exact dates before you book.
- Ask whether new facilities, such as the Aruba premium category or the Puerto Rico beach club, are included in the rate or charged separately.
- Look for the most recent guest reviews to see how finished work compares with the marketing.
- Remember that most of these items are not all-inclusive offers, and prices were not published.
